Crying at the same time rejoicing
(A Must Read)
We may not know precisely what Jesus look like, not yet, but some day we will. When we shall meet him in glory.
I do know what Jesus looked like when he was crucified on the cross. He was naked with his genitals exposed, most of his flesh had been torn from his body from the whips tied with bone and iron at the ends, and the flesh that remained hung like tatters. His eyes were swollen shut from the beating to his face. Blood ran from his head where the crown of thorns pierced his flesh. He had three nine inch, course, iron, nails hammered into his two wrists, and one into his two crossed feet. He had a deep wound in his side where a Roman soldier lunged his spear into him. trying to finally kill him. And yet, Jesus was still able to speak to the thief hanging next to him, to give him comfort and a promise of hope before his death. And to John, and Mary, his mother, and to God the Father before He gave up the ghost. I killed Jesus Christ, because of my sins, and you killed him because of yours, we all killed him. When he hung on the cross, he knew my name, and he knew yours, he knew we were coming. God, Creator of all things, manifest himself in the flesh, as an atonement, a sacrifice for all humanity that we might be saved from eternal judgement.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed from infirmities, diseases, sicknesses, shame, penury, reproach and untimely death. Isaiah 53:3-5
